Iggy Pop (f. Kate Pierson) – Candy

Released on Brick by Brick in 1990

Yeah, so I’ve fallen off the face of the earth for awhile.  Sometimes life gets in the way of being a self-righteous music blogger.  By the way –  if you ever get tired of my taste in music, you can always check out some other music blogs by going here.

Anyway!  Brick by Brick stands out among Iggy Pop’s solo albums –  Slash and Duff McKagan of Guns N’Roses were brought in as songwriters and musicians, and this particular track features Kate Pierson of the B-52s.   And whenever Kate Pierson does a duet with someone, it turns into early 90s-alternative GOLD! I’m not sure if Iggy Pop was happy about the commercial success of this album. It’s not like he needs Billboard or MTV to justify him as an artist.  But Kate Pierson is just so awesome, this song deserves to see the light of day once again.

(Hilarious side note:  when this was released as a single in Europe, the B-Side was a song called “Butt Town.”  Heh..)
